This study on communicating indigenous health Knowledge in the digital age: Prospects and challenges set out to: ascertain the current methods used in communicating indigenous health knowledge in Nigeria; find out the challenges hindering the integration of indigenous health practises into digital health systems in Nigeria; examine the potentials of a digitised indigenous health knowledge in Nigeria and explore strategies for incorporating indigenous health knowledge into Nigeria’s digital health system.The Diffusion of Innovations and Knowledge Gap theories provided the theoretical foundation for the study.It adopted a qualitative research approach with in-depth interviews as the method for data collection. According five seasoned practitioners across the medical fields were purposefully chosen for interviews. Findings show that even in the phase of digitisation, the primary method of communicating indigenous health knowledge is still informal verbal communication. In addition, poor regulatory framework, funding and lack of research are the major challenges militating against the digitisation of the sector. Whereas collaboration with non-governmental organisations, funding of research endeavours and development of digital apps to make the knowledge readily available are some of the strategies as well as recommendation that will help the sector to get fully digitalised and integrated into the mainstream health system.
